Multiply numbers

Top  Previous  Next

This wizard is meant to help students understand the process of multiplying two numbers.

It can be accessed by clicking on Wizard Button | Basic operations with numbers | Multiply numbers.

In order to multiply two numbers:

  • Type both the multiplicand and the multiplier in one of the boxes provided (remember that the order in which you enter numbers does not affect the result).
  • Click "Solve Step" as many times as needed to reach the result.
  • Remember you can use the "Explain" button whenever you want to take a look at the explanation for a step.

hint2 You can multiply numbers which are even longer than the space-holders provided to enter the numbers.

hint2 Even though the order in which you multiply numbers does not affect the result, the diagram that you will obtain will be different depending on the order you use. In fact, the diagram will have as many rows as the number of digits of the multiplier (the second number).
