Perpendicular line passing through a point

This Wizard is used to find the equation of a line passing through a point and perpendicular to some given line.

 

It can be accessed by clicking on Wizard Button | Line | Perpendicular line passing through a point.

 

To find the equation:

  • Enter the point: (x1,y1).
  • Enter the equation of the line.
  • Click on the "Solve Step" button to see the next step or "Solve all" button to see all steps.

 

hint2 If you need an explanation for any particular step, click on the step and then click on the "Explain" button.

 

hint2 The equation of the line must be an equation only containing variables named "x" and "y"; for example: "y = 2x + 3" or "2y - x - 1 = 0".
