Find the inverse of a function

Top  Previous  Next

This wizard is used to calculate the inverse of a given invertible function.

It can be accessed by clicking on Wizard Button | Function | Find the inverse of a function.

To find the inverse of a function:

  • First enter the function.
  • Press "Solve step" or "Solve all" button to see the solution process.

hint2 Make certain that you enter the function in functional notation. For example you can enter f(x)=2x+3.

hint2 Remember that in order to see if a function is "invertible" (i.e. if it has an inverse function), we can apply the "horizontal line test" which states that a function is invertible if every horizontal line cuts the graph of the function in exactly one point.

hint2 If you need an explanation for any particular step, click on the step and then click on the "Explain" button.
